The port of Civitavecchia is the second largest passenger port in Europe. All classic cruise routes in the Mediterranean and Western European countries coming at this Italian port, located in the center of the city of the same name.

The port of Civitavecchia is within walking distance from the main railway station of the city (about a 10-minute walk, 600 m).

You can get from Civitavecchia to Rome by regular bus. The bus departs at 09:00 and 09:30 from Civitavecchia and goes to Roma Termini railway Station. Travel time is 1 hour and 15 minutes. The number of seats is limited, so tickets must be booked in advance at the online ticket offices. In front of Termini Station there will be a Roma S. Pietro stop, from which you can walk to the Vatican.

The bus departs back to Civitavecchia from Rome at 15:30 and at 16:00 (respectively, from the Vatican at 15:45 and at 16:15). Arrival time in Civitavecchia is 16:45 and 17:15. Please keep in mind that there is always a risk of getting into a traffic jam.

From Rome to Civitavecchia, you can also take an electric train from Roma Termini Station. The ticket is purchased immediately before the trip, it is not necessary to book in advance. If your ship departs, for example, at 17:00, then it is advisable to leave Rome for Civitavecchia no later than 13:00. Trains from Rome arrive at Civitavecchia Railway Station. From there, you need to walk about 700 meters (10 minutes) to the port or take a taxi if you have luggage.

There is no direct rail connection between Rome's main airport and the seaport of Civitavecchia, but there is a transfer route at Trastevere railway station. The Fiumicino–Trastevere and Trastevere–Civitavecchia electric trains run several times an hour. A single travel pass for the entire trip can be purchased at the ticket vending machine. You can also take the Leonardo Express high-speed train or buses from Rome Fiumicino Airport to Civitavecchia. They run from Fiumicino to Termini railway station. Electric trains run from there to Civitavecchia.

Rome-Ciampino Airport
There is no direct transport connection between Rome-Ciampino Airport and the seaport of Civitavecchia. First you need to get to Rome's Termini railway station, and from there take an electric train to Civitavecchia. You can get to Termini by Terravision buses. You can also choose a more economical, but more complex transfer method: by Atral buses to the railway station of the city of Ciampino (buses run about once every 40 minutes), then by electric train to Termini station. But because of the transfer, this method is not very convenient and is more suitable for those who arrive in Rome late and prefer to spend the night in Ciampino, and in the morning take the electric train to Termini station, and from there take the train to Civitavecchia.
